New Season Begins PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Tim Arienti

Another striper season is upon us.  As most of you know we have been having terrible weather here in Southern Maine for the past couple of weeks.  The heavy rains and high winds have kept us inside, unable to do much work.  Reports say we had upwards of 18 foot seas pounding against our shoreline.  Many boats came off moorings and docks were torn from pilings.  Before all of this happened we did deploy our first two hydrophones of the year.  One at the mouth of the Saco and the other upriver, near the school.  And on May 24, Jake returned.  Jake spent some time in New Jersey over the winter, and has now returned to where he was caught last summer.  You can check out some other of our long distance travelers on the Major Fish Movement page.  Now that this weather is calming down, hopefully we can get move equipment deployed so we can get down to some serious business of catching fish to tag.  I will keep you all updated as things happen.
