We were able to tag two more stripers on friday. The larger fish was 29 inches, while the smaller was 23. Its been very tough for us to get fish lately so these two were definetly a help to the project. Neither fish have been named yet but will be in the near future. Both fish were released after a day of recovery in the lab. I will be posting tracking data for these fish next week. With nights getting colder and fall approaching quickly we should start to see more striper movement. Hopefully our waters will be filled with 2"-5" juvenile menhaden (peanut bunker) within the next couple of weeks, and the stripers and blues will be gorging on them. The stripers will be schooling up and it should make for some of the best fishing of the season. Maybe some of our fish will make brief appearances on their way south, or maybe some fish from Rutgers will show up as they migrate. Im hoping to see some of our long lost fish reappear.
