We caught and tagged our first striped bass of this new season! Local sportfisherman and guide, Troy Fields, caught a 27 inch striped bass at the mouth of the Saco River on the outgoing tide using a fly. The fish was netted and brought back to the marine science center and put it into the surgery holding tank. Once back at the lab, Gerry Beekman surgically insert tag # 67. The fish recovered quickly after surgery and is currently awaiting release later in the week. The fish was named ‘Troy’ in honor of the local fishing guide who landed the fish.
