Breaking News!!!! “Bob” is back! Following just a day behind “Dick” east coast traveler, “Bob” has returned to the Saco River. This means that this fish has successfully navigated up and down the east coast from as far south as New Jersey all the way to the dock off the University in the Saco River. There are an estimated 65 million striped bass in the Atlantic migratory stock. We tagged 4 fish. One of these, “Bob” was able to find his way back to the very spot where we tagged and released the fish last October. This is very exciting data and begins to tell us much about the importance of local habitat to the life history of the striped bass. We shall be eager to learn more about “Bob’s” movements in the river as the summer progresses.
