2006 Begins PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Another season of striper tracking has begun.  The unusually warm winter and lack of snow, led me to hope that the stripers would return to the Saco River earlier than normal this year.  I deployed 3 hydrophones towards the end of April hoping to pick up early arrivals.  As of today, May 15th, Ive heard of people catching a few bass, but none of our tagged fish have showed up yet.  And I havent been out to catch any to tag yet either.  Now with this unbelievable amount of rain that we have recieved in the past week, I feel that the stripers will be pushed out again for at least another week or more.  So much for an early year.  We will just have to wait out the weather, the bass will be here and tagging will begin very soon.
